Chocolate Modak Recipe

Modak is a favorite dish of ganesha, which is also a very favorite dish of Maharashtrians.Modak is special dish prepared for Ganpati Festival, Modak is prepared with several variations Chocolate Modak is one of them.So let's learn from here how to make Chocolate Modak.


Chocolate Modak Recipe

Ingredients for Chocolate Modak Recipe-

  • Khoya- 1/4 cup
  • Powdered sugar- 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp
  • Cocoa powder- 1.5 to 2 tbsp

How to Make Chocolate Modak Recipe-

First, Microwave Khoya on high power for 30 seconds.Stir and microwave again on high power.

Stir again and microwave 20 seconds.Keep Microwave in the same way until Khoya gets slightly brown color (overall This quantity will take 1 minute 30 second ).

Stir khoya well for 2 minutes.Then add Powdered sugar and mix well.

Add 1 Teaspoon of cocoa powder at a time.Mix and then add another Teaspoon, until you get a doughy consistency.

Now fill the mixture in the modak mould and make modak.


  1. You can add Chocolate bar instead of cocoa powder.When you are done with roasting khoya in the microwave, add chocolate pieces over hot khoya.Due to heat, the chocolate will melt.Add sugar and mix well.If the mixture is sticky even after cooling down slightly, add 1 or 2 tbsp milk powder to get the doughy consistency.(In this case, you will require little less sugar).
